This tea is grown in the Chinese province of Yunnan. It is known in Asia for its medicinal properties. The processing is unique – the leaves are pressed and undergo a longer fermentation stage. The tea is then cellared and re-fermented under humid conditions, sometimes for several years. Top quality Pu-Erh teas are sold at auction for high prices, much like fine, aged wines. The cup is deep red, with a distinctive, earthy taste.
